Hey, I'm Meghan
Thanks for being here and welcome to the Sion Team! I would love to assist you on your vocal journey to strengthen your voice, build stamina, and help to create a trusting relationship between your mind, body and your voice.Â
I will use the techniques, tricks and tools that I have learned over my twenty five years of performing and teaching, to help you move forward towards your goals. I am here to be your biggest cheerleader! Let's do this!!!
Get to know me!
Since I was a child, creativity and performance have always been at the forefront of my life. Brought up in the beautiful town of Tunbridge Wells, we were blessed to have fantastic theatre schools, dance lessons and local theatres surrounding us. I spent the majority of my childhood doing musical theatre, films and modelling jobs.
When I was very young my siblings and I encouraged our parents to convert their garage into a theatre. Yes, an actual theatre! We had pews from the local church for seating, stage blocks built, a dressing room renovated upstairs, fancy lighting and a *very cool* karaoke machine. We were all under the age of 9 at the time (and yes, the theatre is still there!). I am truly grateful for my upbringing and am thankful that my parents have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and do what I want to do.
After attaining my A Levels, I travelled to Australia and Thailand before moving to London to train to be an actor at the London School of Dramatic Arts, worked various part time jobs, worked professionally in London, and was then accepted into the Royal Academy of Music to train in Musical Theatre. This is where I learned to truly understand the voice and, in addition, became qualified to teach singing. A few years and various performing jobs later, both in London's West End and abroad, including the National Theatre of Abu Dhabi, I decided I wanted to travel the world. I started working on Cruise Ships as a Lead Vocalist and learned that I wanted to do exactly that for a few years. Long story short, it was the best decision I had ever made.
Working on ships certainly has its perks, and if you ever ask me about the time I saw Humpback Whales Bubble Net Feeding metres away from me in Alaska, I shall endeavour to tell you about it in detail, and possibly won't stop talking! During this time on ships, I saw and experienced so much AND I worked with Stephen Schwartz on his collaboration with Princess Cruises. Opening Stephen Schwartz’s show 'Magic To Do' has to be one of my favourite jobs to date.
Over the years on my long contracts at sea, I decided to get some performance anxiety. So for me, as I have always wanted to challenge myself, always been interested in coaching and always read self development books, the obvious route was to employ a coach to help me. I learned some wonderful tools to help me work through my performance anxiety and jumped straight back on to a ship for another contract. I decided to make it a goal to create my own One Woman Show and once I made the decision on what the show would be (this took a while!) I started creating it, (this also took a while!) but, then 'Celebrating Carole King' was born. The thing that pulled me to create this show was that I realised I had been singing her songs throughout my entire life without knowing it. I wanted to celebrate her and her music! Go and listen to her album Tapestry and I promise you, you will fall in love... and probably realise you already know half of the songs! Performing this show to people from all over the world felt like an incredible achievement.
So now I am back in beautiful Tunbridge Wells, living with my wonderful fiancé and our little puppy.
Over the last couple of years, due to Covid, the theatre, entertainment and cruise industries came to a halt. However, I saw it as an opportunity to mix it up a bit and pivot. I have always dreamed of having my own vocal coaching business on the side of performing and the past year has given me that opportunity to prioritise it. We bought a house in my favourite place in the world and built a lovely studio there for Sion Vocal Studio. It is time for me to give back to the town that gave me so much. Do let me know if you want to come visit!
